Community Guidelines

Last updated: October 16, 2025

Whim works when everyone shows up with good intentions. These guidelines keep things running smoothly so we can all have a good time.

Don't be a jerk

Pretty straightforward. Treat people how you'd want to be treated.

  • Be kind in all interactions
  • Respect different perspectives and backgrounds
  • Use language that makes everyone feel welcome
  • Give people the benefit of the doubt
  • Disagree without being disagreeable

Be real

Use your actual name and photo. Nobody likes catfishing.

  • Use your real name and photo
  • Give accurate info about events you create
  • Be honest about what you're looking for
  • Don't pretend to be someone else
  • If you need to cancel, say so

Stay safe

Meeting internet strangers is fun. Just be smart about it.

  • Meet in public places first
  • Tell someone where you're going
  • Trust your gut—if it feels weird, bail
  • Don't share sensitive info publicly
  • Report anything sketchy immediately
  • Follow local laws and venue rules

Make good events

Clear details = more people show up.

  • Write clear event descriptions
  • Include location, time, and any costs
  • Set attendance limits if needed
  • Answer questions from people interested
  • Update if plans change
  • Only create events you're actually hosting

Instant ban territory

Do any of this and you're gone. No warnings.

  • Harassment: Threats, stalking, or intimidation
  • Hate speech: Attacking people based on who they are
  • Sexual content: Unwanted advances or explicit content
  • Violence: Threats or promoting violent activities
  • Illegal stuff: Don't organize crimes
  • Spam: Commercial solicitation or scams
  • Minors: Any inappropriate contact with minors

Content rules

Keep it appropriate for everyone.

  • No explicit or adult content
  • No stolen content
  • No fake news or misinformation
  • No spam or excessive self-promotion
  • Keep photos relevant to the event

Report bad behavior

See something that breaks these rules?

  • Use the in-app report button
  • Give us details about what happened
  • Block users who make you uncomfortable
  • Email support@whim.app for urgent safety issues

We review every report. Depending on severity, we'll:

  • Warn the user
  • Remove content
  • Suspend the account temporarily
  • Ban permanently
  • Contact law enforcement if needed

  • Show up to events you commit to
  • Leave honest reviews
  • Share ideas for improvements
  • Help create the vibe you want
